About
My primary area of research is marine spatial ecology, with particular focus on the application of landscape ecology concepts and tools to marine ecosystems. A central theme of my research has been the influence of spatial structure on the patterning of marine animal diversity, distribution and movement across multiple spatial scales. Much of my research has supported decision making in marine spatial planning and the management of marine protected areas. My analytical and technical skills include GIS, spatial pattern analysis, multivariate statistics, remote sensing image interpretation and acoustic telemetry. Recently, I have focused on spatial predictive modelling using statistical learning algorithms and GIS to map the distribution and diversity of marine organisms. In general, I enjoy projects that are ecologically challenging and environmentally and socially useful.
